If you are interested in gaming like a pro, you should definitely consider investing in the right hardware. For that perfect & immersive gaming experience, you need a bunch of things, including a gaming monitor. Today, all sorts of options are available for different budgets. Something like PrimeCables.ca 4k monitor can cost less than $500. So, what does it take to buy a good gaming monitor? We have a smart guide with 3 important factors that will come in handy.

    Panel Size & Resolution

Choosing the right screen size can be overwhelming. Bigger is not always better for gaming monitors, because you would want to keep an eye on everything that’s happening on the screen. Find your own sweet spot anywhere between 24-inch to 30-inch. As for the resolution, for a better gaming experience, you need at least a 4k monitor. While curved panels are great, these are also expensive. If you are buying your first monitor, skip a curved panel.

    Panel Technology

There are three kinds of panels in the market today – Twisted Nematic (TN) panels, Vertical Alignment (VA) panels and In-Plane Switching (IPS) panels. In-Plane Switching (IPS) panels are great for those looking for budget monitors with better response time and refresh rate. If you want better color reproduction and contest, pick a Vertical Alignment (VA) panel, although this kind of panel is not that great for gaming in particular. Third option of In-Plane Switching (IPS) panels are your best bet if you want the best of both of other panel options.

    Refresh Rate

The refresh rate refers to the number of times the monitor refreshes the image on screen per second. This is measured in Hertz (Hz). It is common for most monitors to have a 60Hz refresh rate, but if you can go for higher, it is always better. A monitor with refresh rate of 120Hz or higher is more ideal.

    Where to buy?

If you want the best deals on gaming monitors, online stores are your best bet. You can expect to find awesome deals on products, and more importantly, you can find more monitors to choose from. Some of the other things that matter include the brand and warranty. You wouldn’t expect to change your gaming monitor every year, so think of this as an investment and pick a product that is meant to last.

Shortlist a few gaming monitors now to select one.
